Camera Voyeur Gets 12 Years
From: The Washington Post | Date: February 9, 1990
The former owner of a teen club in Roanoke who secretly filmed girls and young women using his club's restroom was sentenced to 12 years in prison yesterday despite his claims he was only trying to increase security.
Randall Wayne Akers, 33, said he installed the camera in the ceiling above the restroom stalls at Club 19 in an effort control drug use and vandalism, but he also was unable to explain what the prosecution called a "greatest hits" tape, a video spliced together using the most explicit shots from other tapes.
